Meal Distribution

(Update for 5/6/20) On Wednesday, May 6, meals for children ages 0-18 will be distributed again at the five high schools and at additional locations from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. This week, children will receive items that can be heated at home for a hot meal. The locations are:
Alexander High School

Chapel Hill High School
Douglas County High School
Lithia Springs High School
New Manchester High School
Eastside Elementary School
North Douglas Elementary School
Stewart Middle School
Turner Middle School
Winston Elementary School

For a map with addresses of the schools, please visit DCSS website. These locations will provide a Wednesday drive-up service from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Douglas County School Nutrition will distribute a supply of breakfast and lunch for five days for children every Wednesday during our time of digital learning away from school, with the exception of April 8 (spring break).

Children must be present in the car to receive the meals. Parents and children should drive to the front of the school (back of school in cafeteria area for New Manchester). Nutrition workers will deliver the meals to the car. Parents or guardians may take the children to any of the locations. We will provide meals for any child who shows up at any location as long as supplies last.
A Gift of Love Services is also available to help our families. The ministry is preparing emergency food boxes for those who need extra help during this time of uncertainty. Please call 770-672-4707 to arrange a pickup time and location.Image preview

Moore and Burdett
Mrs. Moore and
Mrs. Burdett love FMS!

FMS Counseling Department
2019-2020

As your child' s school counselors, we work tirelessly to meet the needs of all students by providing a comprehensive school counseling program. We see students through classroom guidance, small groups, and as individuals. School counselors provide valuable assistance to students and must adhere to strict ethical and legal standards.

One of the most important aspects of school counseling is confidentiality. Information a student shares with a counselor must not be shared. This is done to gain trust and in turn provide the most successful path in assisting that student.

There are several instances when a counselor is mandated to break confidentiality. These exceptions include when child abuse or neglect is suspected, danger to self or others, court or legal proceedings, and drug or alcohol abuse.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Regular attendance is one of the most influential factors in a child's success in school. Children miss valuable information when they aren't present in school, so attendance is a must.

Students are encouraged to attend school every day with no more than 5 absences per year. Please be aware that students with 6 or more absences per school year affect Fairplay's CCRPI score.

Here are a few helpful hints:

Tell your child the importance of attending school every day.

Avoid scheduling appointments or family trips during school hours.

Make sure your child gets plenty of rest each night so they feel awake and alert during the school day.

Be a good role model!

We welcome your support!
     KINDNESS COUNTS

If life can be so hard at times, why do we occasionally make things difficult for one another? Students don't have to be friends with everyone, but they can still show respect. Each day presents itself with many opportunities to share kindness!!!
